The Steps of a good man are ordered of the Lord...
Welcome to Pastorcherry.org. This site was created to provide thought provoking, life changing and God honoring preaching, teaching and writing. I am committed to utilizing every one of my gifts to assist the body of Christ in hopes of developing strong disciples. Becoming a disciple is much more than going to church every Sunday and being religious; a disciple is committed to following God's way and Word. Discipleship is taking on God's lifestyle and obeying His teachings at all costs. It's not easy, and it certainly isn't always glamorous; but I can say it's what all believers have been called to do. Enjoy the site, and tell a friend or two. God Bless!
My Calling
I had just been accepted to the University of California, preparing to study Pre-Law, when I laid my head down to sleep and had a dream. What was unique about this dream was that I was completely awakened from the dream three times, and when I returned to sleep, it was the exact same dream. Rarely does one wake up, walk around for a period of time and return to sleep and get the same dream. I knew this was a message being delivered from God.
Earlier that evening I was wrestling with pursuing my career as a lawyer, (ooohhh how I love law); and pursuing my gifts in ministry. So, I sincerely asked God to give me direction. I didn't ask for a sign, I didn't ask for a miracle or a damp fleece, or anything of the sort; I simply asked for clarity. That night I dreamed of nothing but Scriptures. I could see God's Word, and it was clear as day. I awakened once thinking this was just a coincidence. When I returned to sleep, I saw nothing but Scriptures again. I awakened a second time to make sure I was up completely, and I wasn't lulling in and out of sleep. I even walked around and remained awake for a period of time. But when I returned to sleep for the third time, I dreamed of more Scriptures; nothing else but God's Word. I knew it was God clarifying, as I had requested! When I finally arose, I fell to my knees and accepted His call on my life for ministry. My mother would later remind me that this call was much like the call of Samuel - where God too called Samuel to service, three times in a dream. What an honor!
The next business day, I confirmed with the University of Southern California that I would not be attending their institution. Instead, I enrolled in Biola University within two weeks of classes starting. I had the forms completed, the money for tuition (without procuring any loans), and completed the admissions process, all within a two week period. I kind of figured with that outcome, it must have been a part of God's plan. I am in no way intimating that my decision/call to ministry was solely based on my dream; however, I am sharing that among other providential acts, the dream was the culmination of God's efforts to clarify His call on my life; and I accepted!

Ministry Development

'Staying Faithful'
Pastor Cherry began his public speaking career at the age of six. He discovered that his speaking ability was a gift, when he remained undefeated in speaking competitions throughout the United States. In 1985 Pastor Cherry began his ministry career as a youth director. He was licensed for ministry in 1987 and ordained an Elder in 1990.
In 1997 he planted a church in California, called “The Grace Place”. This ministry grew to well over 500 members and serviced thousands. In 2004 the ministry branched into "Grace Horizon" where he served faithfully until he heard the Lord say branch out further. He now preaches and teaches believers throughout the world via his online ministry websites.
Pastor Cherry was born and raised in Southern California where he attended West Los Angeles College, Biola University and Talbot Graduate School of Theology. He holds degrees in both Ministry and Business; and has earned a milieu of speaking awards and acknowledgements. He ministry development over the years has been largely influenced by the mentorship of; Bishop Isaiah Owens, Bishop Benjamin F. Reid, Pastor Jack Hayford, Bishop Kenneth C. Ulmer and Bishop TD Jakes. These Fathers have helped form his ministry foundation and comittment to disciple-making. Pastor Cherry received a Mayoral Commendation in July 2000 from Mayor Roosevelt Dorn in Inglewood CA; and his community service was acknowledged by Assemblymen Jerome Horton of the 51st District in November 2005.
